The RCF is currently handling a bequest made by a dear departed radio amateur who wanted his “silent key” to be remembered for the benefit of others. This generous legacy to the Foundation stipulates that the funding must be used for the development of a suitable amateur satellite project. The Foundation has accepted a proposal from AMSAT-UK to use the legacy entrusted to the Foundation to help fund “FUNcube” which is an educational project with the aim of enthusing and educating young people about radio, space, physics and electronics. The target audience consists of primary and secondary school pupils and “FUNcube” will feature a 145 Mhz telemetry beacon that will provide a strong signal for the pupils to receive. “FUNcube” is the first cubesat designed to benefit this audience and is expected to be the first British cubesat to reach space. Autumn 2010 is when the Foundation expects that “FUNcube” will complete its flight readiness review.
If you want to make a bequest to the Foundation in your Will to ensure that your interest in amateur radio lives on then we will do what we can to ensure that your wishes are followed.
